Post: Welcome

Happy Halloweek!

Ciao, bellas! And happy Halloweek! This blog post goes out to my girls who waited just a little too long to plan their Halloween costumes. Last-minute costume shopping can be the absolute worst so I've decided to step in with 7 fun and easy costume ideas that you can put together with items from quick-shipping online stores and whatever you have in your closet!

For this week's fit, I've decided to revisit one of my old Halloween costumes. In 2019 my best friend and I were "army chics". We kind of just came up with this costume idea on our own and yes, we realize it doesn't make much sense. Pretty much we paired some baggy cargo camo pants with black tank tops and white sneakers. Hair-wise, we went with dutch braids half-up with straightened hair. The one thing I would do differently would be to add some black face paint. Otherwise, I'm still in love with this look.

1. Fairy

Fairy costumes are relatively easy to recreate. Since nowadays most people just wear party dresses on Halloween, the only thing you'll really need to buy for this costume is a pair of fairy wings. Pick out a bright pastel-colored dress from your closet (light pink, purple, and blue) are best, and then buy a matching pair of wings, curl your hair, and maybe throw some glitter on with a wand. Voila! You're a fairy! I've linked a pair of Amazon fairy wings below that are only $4.95! Feel free to get creative with a tutu for this costume as well if you'd like.

2. Butterfly

This costume is very similar to the fairy idea. The one key difference is that you want to try to buy butterfly wings instead of fairy wings and yes, there is a difference. I've linked a pair below... One super fun idea for this costume is to get some tiny butterfly hair clips to spread throughout your hair. These clips are really popular nowadays and should be easy to pick up at a Forever 21 or Urban Outfitters near your house.

3. Unicorn!

I've seen a lot of people do this costume really well. Pretty much all you have to do is order a unicorn headband and wear it with a light-colored (white or pink are best) top and a tutu. Now that I've researched this costume, it seems like a really good idea. I highly advise jumping on this if you need a last-minute idea.

4. Hippie

This is also a somewhat commonly basic costume, but sometimes with last-minute costumes, you just have to suck it up. For this costume, there are a couple of different ways to go. One idea is to wear flare jeans with an oversized tie-dye t-shirt or a 70's themed band. When it comes to hair, consider waves with extensions and tiny braids sporadically spread out throughout your head. If you own, Birkenstocks, I would go with that for shoes.

5. Hannah Montana and 6.Miley Cyrus

Sorry, Grace, but this was too good of a costume not to share. If you want to do a group costume, consider being Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus aka "The Best of Both Worlds" ;) Hannah will need a purple or pink sequin dress with a microphone and Miley will need a flannel shirt with flare jeans and (again) a microphone (or a guitar). If your hair color already matches, then stick with that. Otherwise, consider purchasing a Hannah Montana wig.

7. Golddigger

This is one of my favorite costumes I have seen this year. Also, it's fairly easy to recreate. To be a "golddigger", wear all black and then carry around a giant gold shovel. Done. It's also fun to add some rich jewelry like the giant dollar sign necklaces and sunglasses. Easy peasy.

Extra Ideas:

If you don't have time to recreate or simply don't like any of these ideas, here are a couple more that might work for you...

  • football player

  • alien

  • cheerleader

  • cowgirl

  • farmer

  • princess

  • devil/angel

  • Tinker Bell

  • cops/robbers

  • flamingos

  • disco girl

  • bunny

  • ski girl

  • boxer

  • gypsy

  • and MORE!

Remember, the key point of Halloween is to have fun, not to overstress about your costume! If you waited too long for the right idea, then don't fear! (see the pun?) There'll always be next year! As for my costume, that's something y'all will have to wait until next Sunday to see ;) Ciao!
