Go Gameday

Ciao, bellas! At last, football season has started. Am I the biggest fan? No. But my sister goes to Clemson and now I’ve been dragged into gamedays 24/7 on the weekends. If you’re an avid college football fan (or any team sport in general really) then this blog post is especially for you!

I realize that most of my audience isn’t in college yet. In that case, you can still apply this advice to high school game days. Get decked out in school colors and find out which statement piece will rock best with your outfit.

Picking Out Pieces:

Each game day outfit is centered around your team’s colors (or in HS, your game’s theme). In that case, you need to constantly have your eyes peeled for school colors that will pop on gameday. This is where you should start thinking about the basics.

It goes without saying that you’ll need a colored top, preferably a reliable one that will go with most bottoms. If you're a Clemson/ECU/LSU fan, try the light purple tank below. If you roll with the tide, this crimson red one may be for you.

While I think a plain colored top is almost always the way to go, you don't necessarily need a basic styled top. All of these crop tops below are bright and very festive for game day (all still

linked below;) Some of the most common places to buy basics are Pacsun, Shein, Cotton On, Tilly's, etc. Just go on Shein and search "blue crop top" if your school colors are blue and you'll be left with hundreds of cheap options that are re-wearable throughout the rest of football season.

Black, white, and denim are also great elements to weave into your game day outfits but beware of using these too often. Remember: your school colors were picked out together for a reason. Don't be afraid to wear both in one outfit!

After you've picked out a staple top, move on to bottoms. This is where I like to get funkier with styles and prints. Here are some of the best statement bottoms to wear for game day:

  • flare jeans

  • animal prints

  • painted/detailed jeans

  • fun mini skirts (fringed/ruched/ flared/ pencil/ wrap)

and so many more!! I'm especially a big fan of mini skirts all day for game day; however, I understand that this may not be comfortable and that's why we have denim!

Denim shorts and jeans are super cute especially if they're specialized! But please please please don't forget about denim skirts. I love this denim cow-print skirt with an oversized school t-shirt tucked in! The animal print doesn't have to relate to your school theme but if it does, even better!

Two Go-To Gameday Looks:

Exhausted your peppy game day looks but still want to dress cute? No problem! It's natural to run out of school-spirited clothing at some point but you still want to be prepared for when you do. Here are two go-to gameday looks for when you need a little reinforcement:

  1. Overalls Everyday: Yep, I went there. Y'all are probably sick of hearing about overalls but I won't stop until you get the gist- overalls are so cute (especially if you're in the SCC). It is literally my dream to decorate a pair of overalls for a gameday with patches, glitter, diamonds, and pretty paints. Just think of the possibilities! And if you don't want to go all out with your overalls, you can still wear a basic pair with a gameday pin and a matching top underneath. Don't underestimate jean dresses!

  2. The White Dress: Yep, I brought it up. That one white dress that you seemingly wear for every occasion. Well, guess what? You can wear it on game day too! Put on some sparkly eye shadow, body glitter, a game day pin, and (maybe) some cowgirl boots and you're good to go! The white dress is a classic game-day look. If you don't want to feel alienated try asking your friends/sorority to do the all-white look with you.

Item of Choice

Since I've gotten over a thousand requests (you know who you are) for clear bag recommendations, I've made it my mission to find the perfect stadium bag for y'all. If you don't need a clear bag for game day, you're lucky but if you do, I recommend trying out the one below and personalizing it however you'd like.

Let me know in the comments if you prefer this blogging format and which of these game day tips you're gonna try! I look forward to next Sunday- Ciao!
